Delicious Pyaaj Ka Raita (Onion Yogurt)

Recommended with every Biryani … the Onion Raita

It is simple to prepare and yet it tastes and gets along damn good very well with any worldly Biryani.

Onion Raita is one of the easiest Raita (Mixed Yogurt) to make. In fact, it goes along well along with other Indian dishes too.

What goes in?
One large or two small onions. Chop them finely, really fine.
One large bowl of Yogurt.
Jeera Seeds (i.e. Cumin Seads). Roast them a bit. Quantity, say around half tea spoon.
Half table spoon of salt (NaCl) (Cooking salt)
Finely chop two green chillies
½ tea spoon of Chaat Masala (Available in any Indian/Asian/Kiraana store)
Black Salt around ½ tea spoon
Black pepper finely crushed, around one to two pinches
Red Chilli Powder (Laal Mirch) around two to three pinches
Coriander leaves, say around 10 leaves
Water, around half a cup

Preparation

1. In a big bowl, pour the yogurt (dahi). Stir it until it becomes watery. Pour the water. Add all the ingredients and stir it again. But don’t add the onions at this stage. Also don’t add the coriander leaves at this stage, as the coriander leaves are meant for garnishing when you serve it.
2.Once the step above is complete, you may add the onions which you finely chopped. Put the mix in your fridge for around 20 minutes.
3. Now is the time you may display the coriander leaves on top. It is now ready to be served.

Enjoy your Onion Raita
